Faena Arts Center calls on individual artists or groups, of any nationality, to participate in the fourth edition of the Faena Prize for the Arts.
The call is for artists to develop original, site-specific works that dialog with the architecture and space of the Faena Arts Center. This interaction can be posited as a direct response to the space’s dimensions, or it can explore its occupation in a significant way. Proposals can include installations, performances, painting, sculpture, photography, design- or architecture-based artworks, film or video works, or any hybrid possible between these disciplines.
The jury for this edition, coordinated by Ximena Caminos, will include Carolina Burgeois, curator for the François Pinault Foundation; Rita González, curator of contemporary art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Katie Sonnenborn, co-director of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in New York; and Sonia Becce, an Argentine independent curator.
The author of the prize-winning work will receive a US$25,000 award, and the project will be assigned up to $50,000 budget for its production towards its exhibition at Faena Arts Center in the course of 2015. There will be two special mentions, each with a US$1,000 award.
The deadline for submissions is January 30th, 2015.
