I am writing with regard to the article by Luis Camnitzer, ¿Reverón and the Nocturnal Butterflies,¿ in ArtNexus No. 43 (ArtNexus.com Newsletter No. 7 Volume 1), on the exhibition. ¿Armando Reverón: El Lugar de los Objetos,¿curated by Luis Pérez Oramas with María Elena Huizi. Mr. Camnitzer states (and your ¿Art Headlines¿ repeats) that an expanded version of this exhibition will travel to The Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 2003. This is erroneous. The exhibition that I am curating for The Museum of Modern Art (with the good counsel of Mr. Oramas and his colleagues at the Projecto Armando Reverón) is still in preparation, but I can safely say that it will be a different exhibition. Given Reverón¿s importance to Venezuela, this exhibition will be first seen at the Galería de Arte Nacional, Caracas, from late June through late September 2004, in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the artist¿s death. It will be presented at The Museum of Modern Art from early November 2004 through early February 2005. And it will finally be shown at a venue yet to be announced, from late March through late June 2005. John Elderfield Chief Curator at Large, The Museum of Modern Art ?
