Christo and Jeanne-Claude
Tate presents a video about Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work, and one of the most iconic art interventions of their career. The museum presents this video in the context of "The Gallery of Lost Art,” an online exhibition that talks about vanished, damaged, stolen, dismissed and erased artworks from the last 100 years, and can no longer be seen.
In 1995, for two weeks the artists wrapped the Reichstag to "temporarily erase" the famous landmark. The building was covered by 100,000 square meters of fabric, tied with over fifteen kilometers of blue rope. Christo compared the temporary nature of the wrapped Reichstag to the tents used by nomadic tribesman.
